Washed clean

Friday, May 24, 2013

A shadow fell over my desk today, and when I looked up and out the window I saw rain streaking down from above, speeding towards the pavement with a hail-like intensity. Within seconds, the sound of water battering the roof above me filled the office with that comforting sound rain makes when you're warm and dry inside. Luckily, everything tamed down by the time I was ready to leave the office for the day and I picked my way home between puddles in a city washed clean and gleaming by the rain.

Food

Are you as excited as I am about the return of Arrested Development? To celebrate, Love & Lemons made some frozen chocolate bananas.

I've been battling a cold all week, so I've been staying away from dairy, cause that tends to make me all stuffed up. But now that I'm coming out on the other side, I am craving this creamy, boozy iced coffee from Averie at Averie Cooks.

I love tacos, but sometimes I can feel stuffed after eating them. I think Caitlin of Roost has hit on a lighter version of regular tacos by making them out of cauliflower and filling them with spring vegetables.

Fashion

I love when fashion bloggers put together style posts where they gather together all the clothes they're loving at the moment (and more importantly, the links to buy them online). Sarah at A House in the Hills has put together a post of all the staples you need in your closet and I'm loving every single one of them.

London-based blogger Carrie of Wish Wish Wish just finished up a trip to NYC and she stayed in Brooklyn. Everyone knows Brooklyn is white hot right now, and Carrie's photographs capture the atmosphere, the ambiance, and the romance of Brooklyn spot on. Plus, you have to check out her giant cat bag.

Other things

I found more episodes of Ready for Love on Hulu. I'm kind of over the moon about it. I need something now that Nashville has finished ... and that finale, woah!

If you're in the US I hope you are looking forward to a lovely holiday weekend - we have a half day tomorrow and I'm planning on baking a toffee pear galette. Oh yeah, I'm doing it.

Summer = corn on the cob. Woo hoo! Can I just eat that every night?

  2. Thanks for linking up to my boozy iced coffee! I think a little booze may help a cold/sniffles etc. At least that's my logic :) I hope you're on the mend in time for the long weekend!
