Are you guys watching the solar event this evening? Venus will be visible traveling across the sun at sunset today and it won't be something you can see again until 2117! I'll be tracking it from here in New York, and hoping to get a picture. If the clouds ever clear up, that is.
Food:
Here's a lovely recipe for rice pudding with strawberries stewed in lemongrass and lime from Bea at La Tartine Gourmande. How yummy does that sound?
How the French raise their children seems to be in the air this year! Bringing up Bebe to this post from Joanna's Motherhood Monday series. Jo is reading the book French Kids Eat Everything and she has summarized here the 7 most important points of sitting down to dinner with children from what helps them to stay at the table to how to get them to at least try everything on their plates. As someone who is trying to emphasize family dinners and raise a child with a varied palate I found it really helpful.
Beautiful post and photographs by Aran at Cannelle et Vanille on her afternoon with the girls at Fig & Fauna and a recipe for beet and goat cheese ravioli. Every time I travel over to her blog (far too often) I just want to steal her life and wear it like a skin...okay that sounds a little weird.
Interior design:
How often do you actually make the crafts you pin onto Pinterest? I know I'm guilty of pining a lot of things I'd love to make but am pretty sure I never will (and I know quite a few others who do this too!). Still, it's nice to dream. Miranda and Jamie at The Pinterest Project blog actually make one project a day from something they've pinned. I wish I had this motivation.
In my long line of to-dos for our apartment I'd like to find a rug for our living room. One that complements the space and doesn't overwhelm. It would seem John and Sherry over at Young House Love have done the work for me with their discovery of this pretty patterned rug from Urban Outfitters. They are using it for their ultra cool and almost finished kitchen/dining room.
I love the tips about french children and eating habits...sounds like they make sense but I'm sure tough to put into practice! How cute to think of little kids eating grown up meals with their parents with tablecloth and napkins and everything.
ReplyDeleteyes but i've already implemented the tip about no snacking an hour before dinner to get them to eat, and it works. So simple! Also serve veggies first, good idea!
